The title cut is the first recording of a Steve Bear song from 1990. It is a meditation of sorts about finding meaning, purpose, and some happiness in an absurd, and in some ways ultimately, futile existence. You know, the Camus existentialist Sysiphus idea. It was recorded at Hazelnut Studios in San Francisco during the week Steve visited Bob in June. Steve does the lead singing and percussion, Bob does the rest of the stuff.
The Incredible Mike Kashou was originally written many years ago by Jonathan and Steve as a birthday present for Mike and recently recorded from three different locales as a 60th birthday present from the other guys in the band. As is earnestly asked in this tribute to our beloved multi-instrumentalist brother, “What can he not do?”
This version of Rabbit Revolution was recorded live in a studio in Miami Florida, in between our two albums, engineered by Mitch Dorf, but never released. This was mastered for this EP by Bob from a cassette.
A staple of our live shows from the early days, Walkin’ The Dog was recorded live in Carriage House Studios, Stamford, CT, during the sessions for A Cow Come True. We were considering it for the B side of Waiting For The Messiah, but went with I’m a Believer instead for thematic reasons. It appears here for the first time.
Studio outtakes, live cuts, and home recordings- show off Swamp Thing's versatility--or maybe their inability to stick with any one approach or style. We hope you like it. If it could, it would hope to be liked.
